(Report from our local rep – Betty Aguilera)
Miss Sara Quiring has just left Chilecito and I can say she has had a very rewarding experience. Several factors contributed to that:

• Her voluntary work.
As she had stated clearly the field in which she wanted to work: kinesiology, I was able to offer her ample choices in the local hospital, as well as in an old people home and in a school for disabled children.
Most of her work was done at the Hospital where the professionals guided and helped her do her practice. When her stay was coming to an end we made a short visit to the Director of the Hospital to say good bye and Sara told her she has been very happy and had learnt new and different things all of them very useful for her future career.
Personally Sara used to tell me she was very satisfied with her experience in the labor field. Besides, I talked to the doctors and physiotherapists who agreed Sara has been a very helpful and curious person. She was always punctual and kind with the patients.
The fact that she speaks Spanish almost fluently helped a lot.

• Her homestay.
As usual, it has been the best part for experimenters who come to Chilecito. Sara is a quiet and shy person but she developed such a good friendship with her family that she could not hide her emotions and thankfulness at the time of leaving. Everyone in her family did their best to make her feel happy and I could see Sara was really enjoying her stay in Chilecito.

• Other activities.
Sara had the opportunity of visiting most of the important or interesting places in Chilecito and its surroundings, including a trip to the last station of the ancient cable car, up in the Famatina Mountain, where gold was mined a century ago. Moreover she was able to visit Mendoza during a week end and stayed at my niece’s house and her host family took her to Córdoba for a couple of days. Then I went with Sara and Jay Howell to the city of La Rioja and we had a great time. Perhaps I should also mention that Sara was invited to the local T.V station where she and Jay were interviewed and one of the provincial newspapers published an interesting article about their work experience. Both visitors stated clearly the importance of the program and thanked for the kindness and respect they had received from people they had met in different places and situations.

• Conclusion
Sara was a good experimenter and her letter and forms gave me a clear idea of what she wanted to do here. It was a pleasure having her in our city.
