Community service: San Juan
and Cordoba
This is Federica from Germany. Now I am living
in San Juan. I am really happy here, I love
my family. They have a son my age and a daughter
two years older- We go out a lot with friends.
I have also started to play field hockey here.
There isn’t synthetic grass here in San
Juan, but we still play! The team that I am
on is going to play in a tournament in Mendoza
(the capital of Mendoza Province ---2-3 hours
away), which will be next week. I am only going
to be here until the end of April, but I will
still get to play in 5 games, which makes me
really happy.
I like the community service as well. It is
in a kindergarten, with a lot of young women
who also work there. The kids are from 0-5 years
old, but I work a lot with the babies. All of
the kids play together though, so I also get
to be with the older children. I really love
playing with them all. There is a gym-teacher
that comes two times a week with whom the kids
get to do a little bit of exercise.
All of the kids are very poor. Sometimes the
babies are dirty and when their mothers come
to pick them up it seems like they don´t
really care about their babies. That is what
is hard for me to see and understand! But oh
well…
I have to leave the country to before the 13
of April (to get a new tourist visa) I want
to go to Chile with my “sister”
here. There is a bus that goes from San Juan
to Santiago; it’s only 7 hours!
I was really happy to hear from you, thanks
for the email!
Saludos de San Juan!!
